We took little Miss Minion on a walk the other day on the green belt, through the park and along the river. It was about two miles but she did really good until the ice cream truck came into the park. She is terrified of it!!

She liked the ditch much better than the river. I think it's becuase it wasn't as loud. Note the girl child texting, as usual!

I finally gave in and let Kris get her hair cut. I think she had about 2 inches cut off and I almost cried! Plus she now has layers, which she loves. It's totally cute!

Minion baby decided that she needed to help me do the chores this evening! She has never gotten in the fridge before but was so quick that I couldn't catch her in time. Needless to say, my fridge got a good cleaning after that!

She has never climbed up onto the dishwasher before either.

She hopped in there before I could blink while I was putting away groceries.

The other day while Don was down in the crawl space she decided that she wanted to go spelunking too! We had a horrible time getting her out. I stood above and looked down into the hole to see a white blur go streaking by so fast over and over again. She was having a great time! Once she even came to a sudden halt in the middle of the opening and looked up at me. When I told her in my most serious voice to get back up here, ZOOM, she was off again!
She is such a total goof ball, but that's why she fits into our family so well!

Christmas, Weiser Style

These are the only pictures I have from our visit to Weiser over Christmas break. They were accidentally erased off of the camera! Needless to say, I totally freaked out! Thankfully a camera shop was able to retrieve them for us and put them on a cd, but of course, the cd drive in my computer doesn't work!

Todd and Jacoby Miller. Wonderful guys. Both of these guys are over 6ft tall!!! When I first saw Jacoby and he gave me a hug, being so short, I felt like a little kid hugging his tummy!

The drive from Weiser to Boise took place in the evening, in the dark. The whole way the girls were laughing hysterically with tons of flashes from the camera coming from the back seat.

Don actually took Kris out of school! They went up to Durango for a much awaited ski trip. Don has been promising to take Kristina every winter for about 6 years!! They were both so excited to go.

The tow rope wasn't turned on until 3:30, so they had to walk up the hill all day long! They were very sore by the time they got home.

Kris said that it was very difficult to stand up once you fell down! She said they both fell down ALOT!

The kids and I made pancake art for family fun night. It was funny to see what we could come up with and then to guess what some of our creations were. Everyone's favorite was my fly/bee, which the kids insisted was a rabid squirrel!

The kids and I wanted to do Christmas in a true desert fashion. We drove out to the desert, which wasn't hard to find, and decorated a Page Tree. We call these Page trees because they look like a cross between a Pine Tree and a Sage Bush. We had a blast and were sure that the few people that saw us were tempted to call the insane asylum!

Don't you just love the extension cord! We plugged the lights into the car!

A get a way Weekend

The last week in September Don and I decided that we needed a get a way. It was wonderful! As you can see by the above picture, we were a bit on the late side to see the famous fall trees of Aspen, Colorado. But it was still beautiful!

Inside of a cave in Garden Springs. Don and I LOVE this town. There are so many neat things to see and do. Only down side was that half of the town stinks horribly from all of the hot springs!

We had SO much fun!!! There were tons of kids who wouldn't even walk in front of the house, let alone come up to the door! Usually the bigger kids crossed the street so they wouldn't have to walk by the house! My great parents started this tradition when I was a kids and this was the first time we have been able to do it at my house. The kids got in some pretty good scares. We all loved it and are already making bigger and spookier plans for next year!

This is what a sudden fierce rain storm looks like in the dry land of New Mexico! The first picture of the stream is not a stream at all. It's a dry wash just for times like these. I pulled over to watch this awe inspiring force of nature.
I took these pictures a little less than 5 minutes after it had started raining!!!
There was so much water on the road that the cars coming around the corner in front of us were sliding all over the place. It was very scary to see a pick up truck and camper hydroplaning right towards you! Luckily all vehicles managed to stay on the road and no one was hurt.

Everyone to Mammy's rescue! Mom fell off her tube SO many times. This time she was stuck between two rocks and the current was holding her down and she couldn't get up. All we could hear was her hysterical laughter ringing through the mountains!!!

When we first put into the river it was too shallow for a long ways. Of course, not paying much attention, Kris, Mom and I all plopped down into our tubes and promptly got stuck! A very nice boy that was fishing came over to help up more than once, but it was no good. We finally ended up walking for a bit before we could start our float. It was so much fun, but because it was so shallow, we kept hitting butt rocks! Periodically we would yell out, or could hear other floaters yell out, "Butt rocks!!!"

I can't believe that school started on August 14th!!! As Devin puts it, "That's such a rip off!"
Devin is in 4th this year and is having a bit of a hard time. His teacher is wonderful, but it's a bit hard to make friends sometimes. Plus the change in altitude here is playing havoc on him in PE. He has come home with a migraine every day since school started. Just need some getting used to.
Kristina is in 8th and is loving her classes. I am so thankful after the end of last year in the other school. All of her teachers are great and she is starting to make friends. Here they have 4 elective classes!!! She is taking PE, Mid evil European History, creative writing and painting. Hope this will be an exciting year for both of them.

Meet Minion. She is the newest member of our family and she is definately Mommy's little Minion! Mawa ha ha ha!!!

She sleeps where ever she wants to. Usually in the trash can or in the cabinets if you don't watch her close enough.

She eats what ever she wants to. Not really! The only human food we let her have is Vanilla Moose ice cream. Of course, she loves it!

She gets to ride in style! She loves going bye bye. I will shake my car keys and ask her if she wants to go bye bye, she will tear down the hall and roll over at my feet onto her back and just lie there so that I can put her leash on. She isn't completely leash trained yet, but she's getting there. It's the funniest darn thing you have ever seen! She love going with me to pick up the kids from school. She just flops onto the grass and awaits all of her adoring fans to give her lovins!

And of course, she must get her dose of cleanliness, just like everyone else!

It's been too long since I have posted anything!!! Sorry! Life has just been a bit on the crazy side. I really don't even feel like going into it all just yet. So I will just give you a glimpse of some of the nicer things in our life right now. This first picture is at the Marina in the middle of the desert.

Cousin Eli came over to play the other day. We all had tons of fun! He loves having Kristina cater to his every need, and she does! He thinks Devin is the coolest thing and tries to copy every thing he does! He also loves the cats. He will call them, meow for them, and just follow them around. They are pretty good about it, they will sit still for a pet or two and then move about five feet and wait for it to start again! It is hilarious to watch.

Don and I were driving around yesterday and got lost. No surprise there! At first we weren't worried. We had plenty of gas and we were bound to run into a town eventually. How naive we were!

As the day drew on the sun got brighter, the gas tank got drier, and our water bottles ran empty. The car was just about to dehydrate when in front of us sat this monster wall of desert! We had no choice, climb the hill or be buzzard food.

The climb was treacherous. As we putted to the top, hand in hand, we were fearing that we had met our end. Abreast the hill we thought we had gone delirious, for what lay before us was not of this place. A desert oasis! No one around, it was just beckoning us.

We filled the tank, (don't ask how) went for a swim and drank until content.

We were marveled by the dwellings. They were strangely eerie but yet inviting at the same time.

We were able to regain our strength and resume our search for inhabitants. All was calm, when what should we see? A sight that troubled us so. A major cause for concern and fright. We left right then and there, we ran and took flight. Never to look back. Forever traumatized we will be by the sights we saw in the desert that day. Something definitely not of this place.

Along the highway and onto the bridge I went. Amid speeding cars, drunken hitch hikers, and very strong winds. I risked life and limb to bring you this rare glimpse of water! Ok...I might...just maybe...only slightly...be a bit on the dramatic side here. These are pictures of Western Refinery in the background. Don's place of employment. Maybe one day I might remember to go up on that there hill and take some photos of the rest of it. It is a very big place. It looks rather industrial, but I guess it's supposed to!

I learned the other day that Western is the only place here that takes oil and turns it into gasoline. I was complaining all along that the gas prices were so high here and it wasn't fair because this is where the gas is made. Well, I stand corrected!
All the other places here are pumping up natural gas.
Who knew!

I got the bug that I really wanted to try to make this for Don. I think that it turned out ok, at least it looks pretty! I wish that I wouldn't have put so much of the toppings on so that you could see the scrumptious steak below.
Notice my plain Jane plate in the bottom corner? It's hard trying new recipes when I won't let most of it come within 10 feet of my mouth! I am such a picky eater. I must have done alright because Don said his taste buds were in heaven and he couldn't stop moaning ever time he took a bite!

The Elder in the blue tie is Johnny Hullinger. A fellow WEISERITE! Can you imagine how totally ecstatic we were to discover he was here in Bloomfield, New Mexico? Such a small world!
Kris and Dev both had one of his siblings in their classes. His mom taught Kristina dance when she was little.
It was fun to be able to talk to some one about the things we miss about Weiser.

Johnny had a blast looking at pictures of people he knew and telling his companion all about his awesome Seminary teacher. Who's wife just happens to be my best friend! He really got a kick out of looking at Ammon and Tara's blog.
Johnny has been here for 6 months already. I guess that's a bit unusual to stay in one place for so long, but we are hoping that he gets to stay a while longer.

These are actually potatoes! We also saw these in Safeway and were to shocked by their size to read the name on the bag. So, I am guessing they are New Mexico potatoes. Even if they aren't, I know that Idaho would be shamed to have them any where near our real potatoes. They were kind of cute though! The 'normal' potato in the picture is an...you guessed it...an Idaho Russet! Need I say more? Pleaze!

This just goes to prove how dorky I am. But hey, at least I am passing it on to my kids! Kristina was just as excited about this as I was.

We were in Safeway about a week after we moved here. Kristina and I were totally fascinated by the different fruits that we have never seen before. We had to buy some to bring home to try, and then forgot they were in the fridge!!!

People in the store must have thought we were plum crazy, running around getting all excited about produce and taking pictures!

The spiky things was our favorite. There weren't any name labels. It's hard to see, but the things behind the spiky things were pretty cool looking too.

Maybe next time we might actually remember to taste them after the excitement wears off!

Ok...so I have to admit something totally dorky! (Aside from not having a lot of time)

I have been purposely not posting lately!!! It's because every time I visit my blog, I have to scroll down and see the faces of some of those we left behind. It's been almost a month, I can't believe it! But I tear up almost every time I come to the blog. I will try to be better. I am sure some of you might like to see some pictures of the land that has claimed us! The kids and I have been into this cake baking show lately and decided to try our hands at a fondant covered, two tiered cake. This fondant thing looks pretty, but it sure is difficult. It isn't even a one day thing!

We decided it didn't turn out too bad considering this was our first attempt. It was even the first time I had ever tried to decorate a cake!

Since grandma's birthday was on Easter we incorporated both events into the cake. After we were all done with the cake Kristina kindly pointed out that I decorated the cake upside down!!!

Hey all! We are here! Things seem to move at a MUCH slower and a lot more expensive pace down here! We STILL don't have Internet! I am using the computer at the library.
The kids STILL aren't in school!!! Their spring break went from one week to three! They will get to start on the Monday after Easter.
I paid $3.49 for a 1/2 gallon of milk the other night at a gas station! The gallon was $4.99!!!
Our house is starting to look more like a home then a sea of boxes. Even the cats are adjusting. I miss you all so darned much!!! Will blog more (Ang) and post pics when not on a time limit at the library!

Devin was presented with his Wolf badge and I was asked to pin it on him. Then he was given a little Wolf pin and asked to pin it on me. He thought is was cool that I was given a pin to wear too! He was also awarded with a gold arrow badge and SIX silver arrow badges! I am so proud of him, he worked so hard. I think that it is obvious that he was pretty proud of himself too!

It was kind of special that he was able to get his badges in front of his friends instead of having to wait until we moved and be in front of strangers. Great big thanks to the scout leaders who work so hard for the kids!!

My Birthday Adventure. . .

These are some pictures from my 30 something birthday this last summer. Don and the kids took me to McCall for the day. We played in the water, went ice skating for the first time ever, and went out to dinner. It was a blast! We ate outside at a Mexican food restaurant on the balcony. Below us was an art show with live musicians playing. The kids even had the staff sing happy birthday to me while I had to wear a large sombrero!

Kristina and Devin made me birthday breakfast muffins! My favorite.

We forgot to bring swimming suits so Don had to taxi the kids to out to the rock. They couldn't believe all of the fish they could see. Nice legs babe!!

It's a good thing they provided buckets for the newbies. Devin's favorite was having us push him around while he sat on them! Kristina took to the skating like she had been doing it since she was born!

Crabby Patties or Cool Cucumbers?

I don't think that Don and Devin were really crabby, but they sure look like it! This was last summer at the park watching a group of entertainers called Rhythmic Dogs. They were really cool. They made music out of banging on things. For the rest of the summer I was 'lucky' enough to have the kids treat me to my own private armature concert almost every day!!

This is from the day that we closed on the sale of our house. I have a picture of us at the same place the day that we bought it too, but it is a paper picture. I so miss my nice, newish, big house. Granted we couldn't live it and move to New Mexico at the same time, but I still miss it! *Sigh*

As you can see, Kristina is posing for the camera, as always! Dianne Jurries was our agent. She was the best! Here goes another shameless plug for one of my Weiser favorites!!!....

We had never met Dianne before listing our house with her. She was wonderful, going above and beyond for us. I would not hesitate a second to recommend her to every one I know. She was so great that I now consider her a true friend. Thanks Dianne for making such a sad thing for me a little bit brighter!

Pancakes and Prayers

The kids and I made up a batch of apple cinnamon pancake snackers (mini cakes) and delivered them to a couple of families that we are really going to miss when we leave. Below is the message we shared with them when we made our deliveries. We each had our lines to read, but Kris had to take over for me when I choked up! The bible tells us that faith is to hope for things which are not seen, but which are true.

That means to believe in something that we can't see.

Our hearts tell us that our faith in God is true and right.

Our hearts also tell us to have faith in many different things through out our lives.

Friendship is something we can't see, but also believe in.

Our God is a kind and loving God, and we believe that he gave us friendship to better our lives.

We find love, joy, and peace in our friendships.

While our friendship with you may change over time, it will always be there.

Something we can't see, but will hold dear to our hearts forever.

My 2 cuties! Showing off their new outfits. We only have 9 more days until we see Don and 11 more until we pull out of Weiser for the last time!! I am constantly trying to fight off the tears now. Sunday, at church was really hard! We are so going to miss all of our friends and family!

I was taken out to lunch today by two of my most favorite people, Tara and Brayden! We went to Subway and I ate up every minute of it! It is so fun to watch kids at this age, they find every thing so fascinating and try to mimic you constantly. Thanks guys for the treat!

Brayden had a little trouble trying to give kisses while wanting to look at the camera at the same time!

One of the Pohl cats had to take a trip to the vet a few days ago. Poor Thomas! Was a cat bite that got infected, so the vet had to cut away the bad skin. Gross! He is forever getting into cat fights. I guess his name fits, Tom, he is a true tom cat!!

This is how Don and Kristina would tend to our little strawberry patch. Don would pick them and hand them over to Kristina for safe keeping, but she would always eat them, thinking he didn't know what she was doing!

This is the day that Devin was born. There were 5 babies in the hospital at the time. Devin was the only one that was in NICU, which just happened to be at the other end of the long nursery room. That's how it's done in small town Nebraska! :)
